ASUU Strike News Update : Cheering News For Nigerian Students

The Federal Government on Wednesday said the present strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) would be called off “very soon”.

This was as it said there are no plans to establish an alternative payment platform for all the labour unions in tertiary institutions.

Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, disclosed this while fielding questions from State House Correspondents at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chambers of the presidential villa, Abuja.

“It will be resolved very soon. It will be resolved and very soon,” Ngige said.

Nigerian students have been at home since February 14, and several talks between the government and ASUU officials have not yielded any fruitful result.
